the day i became a believer again.
well there comes a time when you thought that you've seen it all, suddenly and unexpectedly something so unique that just overwhelms you and make you a believer again. hm.. cliched it may seem, but that just happened to me..
unintentionally caught serendipity starring john cusack and kate beckinsale on cable and it just blew me away. never had i been so emotional since watch moulin rouge like bazillion years back. story's simple, (quote from website, me lazy)
On a bustling shopping day in the winter of 1990, Jonathon Trager meets Sara Thomas. Two strangers amid the masses in NYC, their paths collide in the mad holiday rush as they fall victim to a mutual attraction. Despite the fact that each is involved in another relationship, Jonathon and Sara spend the evening wandering Manhattan. But when the night reaches its inevitable end, the two are forced into determining some kind of next step. When the smitten Jonathon suggests an exchange of phone numbers, Sara balks and proposes an idea that will allow fate to take control of their future.
If they are meant to be together, she tells him, they will find their way back into one another's life.
though story line's rather lame, its the idea of fate and destiny working unknowingly that made me wonder.. is there a special someone meant for you somewhere? would fate lead you to him/her, even when you're already at the altar, about to tie the knot with another? hm..
made me a believer in love again and also the power of destiny and fate.. set during christmas in new york, kinda like love actually, another film that i LOVED. (wat's with love and christmas? dotz, bloody stereotype yet i'm falling for it. everytime.) hahas..
guess wat, i'm a sucker for romantic films..
and i do believe in serendipity now.

just caught house of wax today. well my only compliment was that it was a boring show. its either that or it was a downright-damn-disgusting-show-that-cannot-be-called-a-horror-show, cuz it isn't and after all that hooha, seeing paris hilton die wasn't really a thrill. in fact i couldn't wait just since the beginnig but just that they could have killed her a little more creatively.
wasted my vouchers. poor serene, she caught the movie TWICE somemore. hahas.. tian tain.. :P hahas.. disgusting right? ew.

hey world.. back from vietnam!! hahas.. but seriously, really wish to be back in vietnam.. :( really had a blast there and was totally overwhelmed.. can't wait to be back!
one thing that really strucked me was the hospitality of the vietnamese.. everywhere we went,we were met with gracious smiles on the face of the people, who were ever willing to share and to let us into their lives.. haiz..
the highlight of the trip has gotta be the visits to the various universities, namely internation university and technical university.. really got to learn a lot from the vietnamese students and had the chance to share some aspects of my life with them too.. really a cultural exchange and i had to tear myself away from the places - literally.. wished that they could have been longer though.. and also, made many new frens.. hahas.. that's cool! heys peeps, do drop me a contact when ya guys visit singapore k? den i'll show you around! :P
of cuz, the shopping.. ok i have to admit, things were not that cheap there, maybe not as ridiculous as i though, but still reasonably cheap.. thanks to god of bargaining - aurelieus, we managed to save quite a tidy sum of moolah - to spend on other stuff.. hahas.. imagine bargaining for like 20 mins for a soft-toy.. i gotta give the guy props man.. hahas..
bought quite a lotta things but didn't really spent that much.. (fortunately) spent the most on books - pirated ones.. can you imagine that? hahas.. bought 2 lonely planet guidebooks that would have cost like $90? but only spent bout $20 on them.. hahas.. and also some storybooks as well.. thank god for yong tian.. who kept dragging me away from the mobile sellers, ah bo i'd have spent all my money on books alone.. hahas.. spent a lot on water as well.. well me being the shui tong that i am.. hahas.. had to walk opp the hotel for 2 bottles of 1.5 l mineral water every single day.. hahas.. dotz..
well, got drunk as well - close too ba.. hahas.. went to pub with the gang and drank some cocktails.. dotz.. den of cuz, people had to play games like zhong zi mi ma and of cuz drank some more.. hahas.. drowned bout 1 mug of beer as well... den after that was totally zoned out.. hahas.. knew what was going around me but just didn't have the energy to really pay attention.. and peeps kept saying that my face was darn red.. -.-'' it was a miracle that i managed to walk bakc to the hotel cuz at one point, my body threatened to pull out on me.. almost blanked out.. that was scary.. but after going back to the hotel, everything was fine.. phew!
loved the vocational skol cum orphanage as well.. saw some really cute kids and really wanted to help as much as i could, but unfortunately, didn't really know what i can assist in.. haiz.. there's really a lotta stuff that we can do for the underpriviledged i feel..
really appreciated the company that i was in thru the trip.. my roomies yong tian and the shuai shuai nicholas.. ah seng, benedict, kenny lao da, xiong jie, ah hu jie boon chwee, kai lin, serene and vera.. you peeps made all the diff! love ya! :P
